MaryJean Allen has taught Body Mapping since 2000, and she is also a certified Alexander Technique teacher. MaryJean travels often to teach her unique Body Mapping and Alexander Technique workshops to musicians, actors, dancers, and people from all walks of life. She is co-author of the Body Mapping book for singers, "What Every Singer Needs to Know About the Body," through Plural Publishing. The fourth edition was published in 2020. MaryJean has presented her workshops at Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, Aquinas College, and the following Universities: Northwestern, Miami-Ohio, Texas Women’s, Chicago, Evansville, Northeastern Illinois, Wisconsin at Milwaukee, and Illinois Wesleyan. Other workshops include The American Choral Director’s Association Chapters of the Midwest Central Region, Chicago, and Wisconsin. Additional workshops include Chicago Classical Singer Convention, Masterworks Festival, Illinois State Music Piano Teacher’s Association, and many high schools and churches throughout the US. MaryJean taught voice, Body Mapping, and Alexander Technique lessons and classes at a month-long auditioned Young Artist Program for college students, The Up North Vocal Institute, for the eight summers of the program’s existence. A veteran private voice teacher for over 30 years, MaryJean has students who sing professionally in classical, music theatre, or popular music venues; others teach voice or choral music.
