Judy Palac

As a young Suzuki teacher and violinist, Judy became interested in the biomechanics of the bow arm, which eventually became the subject of her doctoral treatise. Her continuing passion for musicians’ wellness led her to teach courses in that area and finally to found the Musicians’ Wellness Team, comprised of health professionals and somatic practitioners, at Michigan State University. She now incorporates Body Mapping in all of her music education and wellness classes as well as in violin lessons with students of all ages.

Judy is published in such journals as American String Teacher, Music Educators Journal, and Medical Problems of Performing Artists. She is a frequent presenter at state and national conferences, including those of the American String Teachers Association and the Performing Arts Medicine Association. She’s been a member of the Lansing Symphony orchestra for 28 years!
