Jan Prokop is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Musical Theatre program of the Cali School of Music at Montclair State University NJ, Associate Adjunct Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology & Surgery University of Utah and a faculty member of Respiro Opera NYC. She maintains an active voice studio in NYC and is co-Founder of Putting It Together, a performance workshop combining voice/body and acting study for music theatre professionals. Her students have appeared on Broadway, off-Broadway, Regional theatres and national tours.
Jan works with singers, dancers, actors, voice teachers, music directors and conductors to develop and insure healthy voice use. As a Singing Voice Specialist she works with laryngologists and speech therapists in the care and rehabilitation of injured voices.
She has presented workshops at The Singing Voice Science Workshop, The Voice Foundation Symposium, NATS-NYC World Voice Day, NATS Eastern Region Conference, NYSTA Professional Development Program as well as universities throughout the U.S. Formerly on the faculty of CAP/21-Tisch/NYU, Teachers College/Columbia University, she was a founding faculty member of the Actors Studio MFA Program at the New School. She is past-President of NATS-NYC and is a member of NATS National, AATS, The Voice Foundation, Association for Body Mapping Education, and Actors Equity. Jan has co-authored articles with Johann Sundberg, Tom Cleveland, Tom Murry, and others. She has performed throughout the U.S., Brazil, and Europe. Jan received her Doctorate of Music from Indiana University.
