AMY LIKAR
 

Amy Likar is a California based performing and teaching artist.  She is a member of the Oakland Symphony and adjunct flute faculty at St. Mary’s College of California. For over twenty years she has been an innovator and educator for musicians’ and artists' wellness as a teacher of Body Mapping and the Alexander Technique. She is the Director of Training for ABME. She is the editor and narrator for the video, Move Well, Avoid Injury and the author of the Breathing Book for Flute. JENNIFER JOHNSON


Jennifer Johnson, violinist, played in the Atlantic String Quartet from 1993-2005.  Jennifer trained and licensed with Barbara Conable in 2005.  She presents Body Mapping  internationally and was on the New York Philharmonic’s Zarin Mehta Faculty from 2015-19. Jennifer’s two books,  What Every Violinist Needs to Know About the Body and Teaching Body Mapping to Children have been translated into Japanese,  French, and Spanish.  Jennifer regularly gives the WEM course at Memorial University,  is one of ABME’s Sponsoring Teachers,  and  directs  BMSIN,  a summer Body Mapping training course  in Newfoundland, Canada.

STEPHEN CAPLAN

Dr. Stephen Caplan is Professor of Oboe at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he also serves as Director of the Consortium for Health and Injury Prevention. He is the author of Oboemotions, and the Breathing Book for oboe. Caplan is Principal Oboist of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and an Artist for the Buffet Group. His teaching is influenced by private study with many pioneers of somatic music making, including Barbara Conable, Ray Still, Arnold Jacobs, and Marcel Moyse. JANET ALCORN 
 

Janet was an opera and concert singer 1960-1990, always involved in vocal health and rehabilitation. She took several Alexander Technique workshops with Barbara and Bill Conable.
 

Her primary focus is teaching “What Every Singer Needs to Know About the Body,”™ including an expanded 15-hour workshop for Choral Conductors given in late June for license renewal credit. She has given several WES workshops of various lengths for NATS chapters around the country. As Associate Professor Emerita on the music faculty of Iowa State University, she continues to teach Body Mapping as an integral part of her voice teaching. Janet has also taught the “What Every Musician” course at flute conferences and to the music faculty of ISU. She continues to work with individual musicians. Janet is also one of ABME’s Sponsoring Teachers.

LISA MARSH

Lisa Marsh directs the Coordinate Movement Program at Portland State University. Her classes focus on mind body connections for increased artistry. Background in somatic education includes 19 years as a Registered Nurse in the fields of Neurosurgery and Emergency Medicine, 8 years of piano technique study at the Taubman Institute of Piano and 10 years of study of the Alexander Technique and Body Mapping with Barbara Conable. Ms. Marsh is pianist with the Marsh-Titterington Piano Duo and former Principal Keyboard with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra. Her original compositions are inspired by the natural and supernatural worlds and by the artists she collaborates with. She is the author of Coordinate Movement for Pianists, published by GIA Music.
