Marieke Schuurs received a Bachelor of Music in 1984 and a Master of Fine Arts in 1986 from the University of California, Irvine. She completed post-graduate training with The Voicecare Network and with Dr. Mark Beudert. She also trained with Ms. Barbara Conable in Bodymapping for Musicians, and is a certified Andover Educator. She is currently in the voice studio of Ms. Ellen Faull, formerly of New York City Opera.

Marieke has sung with the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, Eugene Opera and performed locally with Afterhours-Jazz. She has conducted the Oregon Festival Girlchoir and was Chorus Master for Eugene Opera from 1999 - 2004. She maintains a private studio in Eugene, Cantare Voice Studio, and is the director of Yuletime Carolers, a seasonal performance group. She is a twenty-year member of National Association of Teachers of Singing.
