Inspired Me

The Coordinate Movement Program at Portland State University has given me the tools, the support and the vision to advance my playing and teaching in a new direction. Developing my own body map has made sense of technique, ease of movement and quality of sound that I never imagined possible for me at the piano. Now I can't imagine playing or teaching without this information and approach. Lisa Marsh and Barbara Conable have inspired me to become an Andover Educator.

Most Helpful

The Coordinate Movement Program has helped reduce the pain I feel in my body and has helped me learn to play the piano more efficiently. As someone who has suffered from tendonitis/fibromyalgia for over 4 years, I have finally been able to find results in a program that helps me heal at my instrument. Not only am I learning how to play my instrument without pain, but I am able to play more musically and achieve the sounds I want without being limited by technique. The pedagogical approach Professor Marsh uses is most helpful to me as an aspiring music teacher and an Andover Educator trainee.

- Colleen O'Connor; Pianist, Composer and Teacher Trainee in the Coordinate Movement Program
