Violinist Kerry Travers received a B.A. in Biological Sciences
from California State University at Sacramento. Kerry is a
trained Suzuki teacher registering over 200 hours of Suzuki
violin training with the Suzuki Association of America from
well known national teachers; she has maintained a private
violin studio using the Suzuki Method for twenty years in
three different communities in Utah and Washington and has
taught at Suzuki Institutes and Festivals throughout Washington.
Kerry began studying Body Mapping in 1998 with Barbara Conable
because of injury. During the journey to recovery she began
including this information in her own teaching to help prevent
injury and promote good body use in her students, Kerry realized
the great importance of spreading this knowledge to the wider
music community and in March 2007 completed her Andover Educator
Certification. She has presented lectures on Body Mapping
across the country including at the biennial 2006 Suzuki Association
of the Americas Conference in Minneapolis, Boston University
School of Music, Central Washington University and the Kairos
Lyceum.
As a certified Andover Educator, Kerry is available to teach
the course "What Every Musician Needs to Know About the
Body", with a particular emphasis on upper strings. She
also teaches a shorter selective introduction to the course
and she works individually with musicians in her studio.
Kerry performs throughout Washington with her trio Classic
Pizzazz and is a regular member of the Wenatchee Valley Symphony,
Lake Chelan Bach Fest Orchestra and the Eastern Sierra Festival
Orchestra. She currently lives in Chelan, Washington with
her husband Mike, where she a maintains a private studio.
