Pianist Kathryn Woodard has appeared as soloist and chamber
musician at venues throughout the U.S. and in Europe and Asia.
Recent engagements include performances at the Crow Collection
of Asian Art in Dallas, the Construction Company in New York
City and on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in
Chicago. Specializing in new music, Woodard has performed
several premieres including works by Moiya Callahan, Paul
Hogan, Paula Matthusen, Huang Ruo, and Aziza Sadikova. Woodard
is also active as a scholar of Turkish music and has traveled
to Central Asia with grants from the U.S. Department of State
in order to perform American music and research music from
the region. She holds degrees from the University of Cincinnati
College-Conservatory of Music and the Hochschule für
Musik in Munich, Germany. Woodard has presented workshops
in Body Mapping at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
in London and at the University of Cincinnati and regularly
offers the six-hour course What Every Pianist Needs
to Know About the Body at The Construction Company in
NYC. She was recently appointed Assistant Professor in Piano
at Texas A&M University.
