John H. McCrary has served as Director of Music here at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community since 1998. Prior to moving to Alexandria John played an active part in the Richmond musical community for over a decade serving as Director of Music at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Powhatan, Virginia; Director of the Music Education Center at Richmond Piano Rebuilders; and Company Pianist for the Richmond Ballet. Mr. McCrary also served as Vocal Coach/Accompanist for the Florida State Opera in Tallahassee, Florida from 1988 to 1989. He holds a masters degree in piano performance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and a bachelors degree in piano performance from Virginia Commonwealth University, and has studied chamber music at California State University, Long Beach with the Philadelphia String Quartet. In addition to his work at Blessed Sacrament John maintains a private studio and performs as a soloist, chamber player and accompanist throughout the Washington, D.C. area.
