Cynthia McGladrey holds a Master of Music in vocal performance and pedagogy at University of Oregon and a Bachelor’s Degree in choral education at Portland State University. Cynthia is an active choral clinician and vocal adjudicator in high schools, mid-high and colleges throughout the Northwest. She is an instructor of voice and choral clinician at George Fox University. She maintains a private vocal studio in Salem teaching choral directors and adult professional students. Cynthia, together with her husband, Emanuel, teaches and coordinates the music ministry at Salem First United Methodist Church. Cynthia has been on the voice faculty at Oregon State University, Linfield College, Mount Hood Community College and served as sabbatical leave instructor at Western Oregon University.
Cynthia is an Andover Educator, certified by Barbara Conable, as a specialist in Body Mapping and teacher of the course “What Every Musician Needs to Know About the Body“. Her emphasis is in teaching Body Mapping applied to choral and solo singing as well as choral conducting. Cynthia has studied voice with Dr. Gwen Leonard, Miss Ellen Faull, Mrs. Exine Bailey and Mrs. Ruth Dobson. Cynthia performs concert and recital repertoire throughout the Northwest and has won several regional vocal competitions. She has appeared as soloist with Festival Chorale Oregon and Willamette Master Chorus and is vocal coach and soloist at First United Methodist Church in Salem. Cynthia and Emanuel are parents of two daughters.
